And the women in the mighty purple have drawn first blood.
In the first ever meeting of the two teams, the Southern Highland Storm Women's Rugby League team have got the victory over the Mittagong Lions 10-0.
Setting the tone for years to come, this game had it all.
Highland Storm head coach, George Gibson said it was good to get the win over rivals Mittagong.
"It was great for the girls to get the win," Gibson said.
"Personally, it was awesome to see them get out there, having a go and at the end, with the achievement they accomplished, they all had smiles on their faces.
"There's quite a rivalry between the teams, extending back to the Moss Vale days. So, it was really good to get the win."
The game was full of action and excitement. Teams weren't holding back and coach Gibson loved the effort from the girls.
"It was definitely a fast paced match," Gibson said.
"There were errors from both sides, but they'll learn from them. There was a large crowd there which was really great to see.
"I think in the end, our crowd support helped push us over the line for the win."
The girls were all celebrating after the game as they got the victory in an excellent team effort.
"The win was a total team effort," Gibson said.
"There were a lot of new girls and for them to get the win, especially with the coronavirus pandemic, we've lost a lot of players, the new ones coming in helped us get a great team win."
Southern Highland Storm Seniors president, Matt Burke was elated with the win.
"It's always good to win anytime," Burke said.
"But, to win over your local competition is always sweeter.
"An injury caused the original match to be delayed. So, given the circumstances on Wednesday night it was a really great effort by the girls."
