Oz Harvest chapter coordinator, Jenny O'Regan said that the donation of the commercial fridge with glass doors was welcomed.
"Bowral Uniting Pantry had an old fridge and it would heat up because it was open for long periods of time for people who needed goods," she said.
"The donation of the fridge was facilitated by Councillor Ian Scandrett.
"The commercial fridge has a glass door so people can see inside the fridge and decide what they want before they open the door."
OzHarvest has no base in the Highlands but rescues food that hasn't expired and good to eat and distributes it to charity groups such as Bowral Uniting Pantry.
"We collect food from Aldi, Harris Farm and Bowral," Jenny said.
"During COVID-19 period Harris Farm donated a pallet up to 250 kilograms of fresh fruit and vegetables a day so we could distribute around the Highlands and surround areas."
Jenny also said that she had noticed an increase in people who needed to access these services.
"There have been people who never had to ask for help, ask for help," she said.
"Then there are people such as refugees who aren't eligible for Centrelink services, people who have lost their jobs, there's definitely an increase for assistance in the community.
Councillor Ian Scandrett said he was happy to help.
"I am delighted that I was able to assist and help a worthy cause in the community," he said.
