That is the message from council's Deputy General Manager of Operations, Finance and Risk Barry Paull.
Residents are reminded that the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) remains open for essential business however, delays should be expected.
"We understand that there are a lot more people at home than usual and they're possibly using this extra time to tidy up around the house," Mr Paull said.
"But as per the advice from our State and Federal Governments, now is not the time to be out on our roads unless your trip is for essential purposes."

Under national guidelines, only travel to school, workplaces and to shops to buy staples, for medical appointments, exercise and emergencies are considered essential reasons for travel.
Mr Paull said rural residents without a regular putrescible waste collection and local businesses would be given priority at the Moss Vale RRC.
"While a lot of other waste management facilities have already closed, we want to keep ours open to support those residents and business operators that rely on the RRC for their primary form of waste disposal," he said.
Mr Paull said while still open to the public, the Resource Recovery Centre had to limit customer numbers to adhere to the enforceable social distancing and crowd restriction measures, to protect our staff and to minimise the risks to our customers from COVID-19.
"Previously we could only have six cars in the facility at any one time, but we've revised our operating procedures and can now accommodate up to 12 cars, depending on which waste stream they are accessing," he said.
"As we've seen this week, this has reduced the queue outside the facility.
"Traffic controllers are stationed on site at the facility and are notifying the weighbridge of priority customers in the queue.
"We apologise for this temporary inconvenience but appreciate residents will understand the necessity to support our rural residents, local businesses and tradies during these challenging days."
