Performers and production personnel in the ACT and surrounding regions of NSW receive 'gongs' for their work.
The annual gala night is a highlight in the theatre calendar and this year is no different, although the gala will be very different.
The twin challenges of the bushfire crisis and COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of the planned ceremony at Canberra's Llewellyn Hall.
The CAT awards will be announced in a pre-produced video which will be hosted on the CAT Awards website and on social media platforms.
"While it was heartbreaking to have to call off the Llewellyn Hall event, we were determined that 'the show must go on' and we believe we've come up with a fabulous alternative," CEO of the CAT awards Coralie Wood OAM said.
"The amazing work done on stage and behind the scenes in the ACT and southern NSW in 2019 will be recognised."
The CAT awards will also celebrate its silver anniversary in 2020.
"Despite the present challenges of closed venues and productions on hold we are ready to swing into action as soon as shows return," Chairperson of CAT Awards Dennis Martin said.
"And we are using the enforced downtime to discuss re-imagining the CATS for the next 25 years."
Details of nominations can be found here.
The video will be available from 6.00 pm on the CAT awards website and on Facebook.
