The temperature is set to top 40 degrees Celsius on Saturday January 4 with winds blowing in an north westerly direction in speeds up to 35 km per hour.
According to a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson, a southerly change will occur and impact towns close to the boarder in the late evening on January 4 but the Highlands region might not see any benefit.
Temperatures are predicted to drop on Sunday to the low and mid 20's and stay there for the next few days with some light showers predicted.
Residents across Robertson, Moss Vale and Northern Villages reported rainfall in the early hours of January 3.
However the BOM spokesperson said that the rainfall was light.
"It was patchy and isolated," they said.
"We aren't expecting rain the in the next 24 hours but there will be some showers in the upcoming week.
"However it won't be enough to impact the fire ground."
The weather forecast for the week ahead according to the BOM website shows that temperatures will ease before returning to the high 20s on Thursday. There is an 80 per cent chance of rain on Monday January 6 with temperatures to reach a maximum of 18 degrees.
