Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Duncan Gair is calling on the Shire's residents to heed Council's recently introduced water restrictions as catastrophic bush fire conditions are forecast for December 21.

"Now is not the time to water your lawn when others are trying to save their homes," he said.
"I urge everyone across the Shire to mindful of their water usage in the coming days to ensure we have ample supply and pressure to assist our emergency services.
"Staff of Council are currently working with our NSW Rural Fire Service colleagues to help redirect water to the areas in the north of our Shire where it's most needed."
Mayor Gair said with record temperatures forecast for Saturday the need to heed the water restrictions was imperative.
"Water restrictions don't just assist in securing our long-term water supply," he said.
"They also help in emergencies such as this."
"And with the weather set to deteriorate this weekend I encourage everyone to stay safe and remain vigilant.
"I'd also ask everyone to spare a thought for our neighbours to the north and a prayer for our Rural Fire Service volunteers."
