After 4300 km, 35 days, and helping police with PTSD along the way, Bob Simpson found himself back in Bundanoon on October 18.
Bob arrived shortly after midday at Quest for Life to a large crowd of supporters, including his sister and his dad who were proud of his mammoth ride.
Starting his epic journey in Perth last month, Bob has experienced searing heat, incredible storms, dry dusty winds, loneliness and mental and physical exhaustion.
He experienced a family tragedy which caused him to suspend his ride while he took time out to be with loved ones. In the face of grief, tragedy and PTSD, Bob resumed his journey across Australia.
"Life can be a challenge but as long as we do all we can for others, then we're treading the right path," he said.
Bob's also experienced incredible kindness from people he's met on his journey and takes great strength from the words of encouragement, support and donations he receives.
"Your support inspires me and gives me strength to keep pushing even when my mind feels like giving in."
Bob is a medically retired NSW police officer. From 1996 to 2014 he served the State with honour before the horror of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) became too much for him to continue.
"So many active and former Police Officers are living with PTSD. I want to draw people's attention to PTSD in the hope that others can have a better ride than me," Bob said.
Bob is fundraising for a cause close to his heart - the Quest for Life Foundation. The Moving Beyond Trauma program restored his faith in life and gave him back his purpose.
Bob has raised almost $30,000. He is especially grateful for major donors CBC Group, 1st Choice Mechanical Repair and Giant Wollongong who are helping to make this ride possible.
