'Stick to your core duties'
It really is time for councillors such as Larry Whipper to do us all a favour and retire. If he, and his fellow councillors, spent as much time on the core responsibilities of local councillors (Rates /Roads / Rubbish) then we would all be so much better off.

Instead we have to put up with his inane posturing about climate change and all sorts of other social virtue signalling, such as making councillors vote to support the student climate strike.
Larry, please get back to the job you were elected to do. You are part of one of the most dysfunctional councils we have ever had the displeasure of having (and we have had some bad ones). Please stick to your core duties and leave the social warrior action to everyone else.

'Focus more on fixing roads'
I see that Councillor Larry Whipper has joined the 'brainwash your kids' club. Send them out into the street to demonstrate and change the weather. Really? I would encourage the good councillor to focus more on fixing the roads and less on trying to fix the planet.

Praise for emergency service
I read with interest the story about a truck and car crash on Sheepwash Road, Avoca, posted on the Southern Highland News website on September 16. It was sad to read about anyone injured in an accident and my thoughts are with them and their families.
However, my thoughts also go out to the wonderful people who work in emergency services and their families.
Regardless of whether they are police, ambulance officers, fire officers, SES representatives or any other emergency worker it never ceases to amaze me the work these people do.
Some are paid workers but many are volunteers - either way their contribution to the well being and safety of people in this, and any other community, is praise worthy to the highest degree.
In this crash story some emergency service people were helping motorists during an awful and frightening time, but only a few weeks ago they were helping people during wild, windy weather. What would we do without these dedicated people? Thank you for all you do.
