A man has been flown to hospital following a crash on Sheepwash Road at Avoca.
A TOLL helicopter airlifted the man to hospital at 11.15am.
Southern Highlands Police sergeant Matt Hoffman said a man was trapped in his vehicle.
"We believe a heavy vehicle was attempting to enter a property and a small hino truck has collided with the rear... that's all we know at this stage," he said.
SES Wingecarribee unit controller Warren Turner said his crew released a man from a vehicle.
"A male occupant was trapped by the legs, we pushed the dash from his legs, just give him access so we could him out," Mr Turner said.
"The crew performed extremely well today, very professional, very proud of them. I don't think we could've got him out any faster and we worked with the other services very well."
One resident, who did not wish to be named, went to her front gate when she heard a lot of sirens.
She said while she did not know the circumstances of the crash, people needed to take care in the area in general.
"People need to be aware there are driveways. If indicators are on, it's best to slow down," she said.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The drivers will undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
Police, ambulance, Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service (SES) and traffic crews from the Transport Management Centre were in attendance.
Motorists are advised to slow down and obey the directions of traffic crews in the area.
