Justices of the Peace should attend regular training to ensure they have an accurate knowledge of their role. This is the directive of the NSW Justice Association.

It comes ahead of a training day scheduled to be held in the Southern Highlands on September 12.
The aim of the day is to help JPs continue their professional development and keep pace with current standards and directives from the Attorney General so as to maintian the skills and knowledge to deliver a professional service to clients and the community.
The September 12 event, to be held at the MIttagong RSL Club, has attracted a team of of qualified leaders and experienced trainers including Dr John Brodie JP, Rodger Anderson JP and Peter Enderby overseer of the NSWJA online training system.
They will address various topics in a year of major reform for the NSW JPs including online testing which began on April 1.
Topics covered during the day include Online Testing vs Online Training, Affadavits and Annexures and Statutory Declarations - when to use an interpreter.
Leading the team of trainers for the day is a regular presenter at the annual Highlands training events Dr John Brodie.
The NSWJA presidents has been involved in education in schools, TAFE and university and is the author of the NSWJA Training Manual.
He will cover the topic of the use of an interpreter when witnessing a statutory declaration or an affadavit.
Mr Anderson will present on affadavits and annexures while Mr Enderby will share his expertise on the JP knowledge test which is to be completed by all JPs applying to renew their appointment.
Mr Enderby will also speak on the on-line training system.
Registration to this year's training day begins at 1pm at the Mittagong RSL Club with a 1.30pm start. Training is expected to wrap up at about 4.30pm.
RSVPs must be submitted by September 9.
