The Mittagong RSL has done the latter.
The club has donated $5500 to the Mittagong Hockey Club continuing its unwavering support for the sporting community.
Mittagong Hockey Club President Mel Stachan said the club couldn't survive without this kind of backing.
"We've had sponsorship with the Mittagong RSL for over 10 years," Strachan said.
"It's ongoing every year. The RSL always offers its services to us without fail. It openly and willingly offers us support and we are so grateful as a club for it."
The donation will go towards ensuring the hockey club's current and future players have the best chance of success.
"With the money we will put it towards new shirts for the kids," Strachan said.
"We also need new goalie gear and player equipment."
Like many local sport clubs, it takes a team to accomplish goals and Strachan said it couldn't be done without everyone's help.
"There are so many hours that go in to running a local sporting club," Strachan said.
"Our committee members and our volunteers keep us going. Also the managers and the coaches, with all the hours they've put in as a whole, we now have the biggest amount of junior players throughout the Southern Highlands Hockey Association.
"We have 150 kids and the dedication from our members, fans, parents and coaches has created a healthy and supportive environment for those kids.
"Hopefully this will have the kids continue playing for the club, which is really great for our senior competition also. It's building the future of our club."
They openly and willingly offer us support and we are so grateful as a club for it.

If anyone is interested in joining the ever-growing Mittagong Lions Hockey Club, they're always on the hunt for new blood. "The season is coming to an end in the next few weeks," Strachan said.
"But we'll start taking registrations around the end of February. We do take on applications all year around though.
"If interested in joining our club, players can head over to our Facebook page and send us a message."
A Mittagong RSL spokesperson said that community support "was a huge part of what we do here at the club."
"It's something we're really proud off. We are able to support many local sporting clubs through one of our longest running initiatives, the Club Grants Program, which is focused on giving back to our local community."
The Mittagong Hockey Club isn't the only sporting organisation the RSL supports. Its has thrown its financial weight behind local sporting institutions and continues to see the positive results it brings to the community.
"The relationship between the RSL and the local sporting clubs we support has gone from strength to strength over the many years of our partnerships," the spokesperson said.
"We know of the many benefits that sport has for kids, from the physical outlet to the team building and social aspects, so as a community-focused club it's important to us to do our part and offer our support."
