The Push-Up Challenge consists of 3128 push-ups per person to be completed in 21 days throughout July.
SES Wingecarribee Unit commander Heather Macrowe said the number of push-ups represented the number of people who had committed suicide in 2017.
Seventeen SES volunteers from the region have taken the challenge head on and aim to complete 53,176 push-ups in total.
"We are a family and we all support each other," commander Macrowe said.
"If a member of the team is unable to complete their push-ups for the day another person will complete them for them."
Wild winds over the past week have meant SES volunteers were called out to 72 jobs since July 11.
Despite the busy period SES volunteers have been hard at work completing the challenge.
Commander Macrowe said they had completed push-ups in the operations room and out in the field.
"[The team is] an amazing group of people who go above and beyond," she said.
