We described it as an Australian Water Dragon but thanks to some very informed readers, including Highlands reptile expert Ray McGibbon, we have learned it is a Jacky Dragon.
Ray sent us in a picture of an actual water dragon which can be seen in the inset.
The Jacky Dragon rarely enters the water, although it has the ability to swim. It is one of the 70 species of dragons found in Australia.
They are very swift lizards that tend to run in an upright posture when pursued.
