Pamphlets were sent out to Wollondilly voters by the Liberal Party last week that said "if you vote for [Independent] Judith Hannan... you could get [leader of the opposition] Michael Daley".
Ms Hannan has denied the claim on the pamphlets.
"A vote for Judy Hannan is a vote for Judy Hannan, and the community can put their preferences wherever they want," Ms Hannan said.
"They're treating us like fools and trying to mislead us [the Wollondilly electorate]. It's just grubby."
Meanwhile Liberal candidate Nathaniel Smith has been the target of a spate of graffiti incidents in recent weeks.
This includes profanities on several campaign signs and graffiti on a Mittagong bridge which asked voters to "put the Libs last".
Mr Smith has been contacted for comment about the incidents.
