More than $5830 was raised at Coles Moss Vale as part of Coles’ Christmas campaign to help Redkite support families affected by cancer.
The annual fundraising campaign was launched at Coles supermarkets nationally in November, raising more than $315,000 across the state and a massive $1.42 million nationally.
Redkite CEO Monique Keighery said the charity was grateful for the support of the Moss Vale community.
"The generosity and kindness of Coles’ team members and customers sent a very clear message of support to our families at Christmas,” she said.
“Every purchase from the range of Redkite Christmas merchandise – from the donation cards to the Gerry the Gingerbread biscuits and toys – ensures that families have access to counselling at the hospital bedside, music therapy to ease the pain and help with keeping the lights on when things are financially tough."
Moss Vale residents contributed to more than $1.4 million for Redkite by purchasing $2 donation cards, as well as Coles’ new range of Redkite Christmas biscuits and merchandise, with funds going directly to Redkite.
Coles state general manager Emma Bridges said Coles was humbled by its generous customers who helped to make a real difference to Redkite, ensuring the charity could continue the fantastic work it did in supporting children and families during a difficult time in their lives.
“We are incredibly thankful to our customers and team members for their amazing support in raising money for children and their families affected by cancer. Coles has been a passionate supporter of Redkite for more than five years, and the outstanding fundraising results achieved this year are a testament to the commitment of our customers and team members to the cause,” she said.
“At a time of year when the pressure on families can be heightened, our customers can take pride in enabling Redkite to provide vital care and support to cancer-affected children and families when they need it most.”
All donations from the campaign will help Redkite provide essential support to children and young people with cancer and their families, which has been the charity’s focus for more than 30 years.
