He has received support to live independently in his own home and has participated in a variety of exciting activities, including the drama program, dinner groups and a wide range of exciting outings.
An Interchange Australia support worker visits James once per week to assist him with cooking and maintaining his household.
This service allows James to continue living independently, which is very important to him.
James is actively involved in the community.
He works at the Welby Garden Centre, where he has learnt many valuable skills, and in his leisure time, he thoroughly enjoys attending Interchange Australia’s wide variety of activities.
These activities offer unique experiences that enhance James’ life, including socialising with his friends and meeting new friends.
James’ favourite outings include Wings Over the Illawarra, the Goulburn Rodeo and all of the themed dinner groups.
James has a keen interest in the performing arts and joined Interchange Australia’s drama group, the Stage Fright Players.
James has starred in many diverse roles including memorable performances in ‘I Haven’t got a Cluedo…Yet’ and ‘A Cracking Christmas Cruise.’
“I enjoyed performing in these shows with my friends and learning different things,” said James.
After taking a break from the stage, James began co-hosting the RockCan Hour on Monday evenings on 92.5FM Youth Radio, a show that features interviews with members of the Interchange Australia band, The Hidden Wonders.
James has enjoyed announcing and preparing his own playlists and will launch his own program on Monday evenings between 5-6pm.
“After performing with the Stage Fright Players, I wanted to give radio a try,” says James.
“I enjoy music and my new show will feature a mix of modern country and rock songs.”
James is certainly making the most of the opportunities available to him and we look forward to seeing him continue to achieve his goals.
Congratulations James on everything you have achieved so far.
