According to the BoM, East Kangaloon had 207.5mm of rain, while Macquarie Pass had 194.5mm and Fitzroy Falls had 187.6mm.

Nearby Robertson recorded 179.4mm of rain throughout the weather event.

Meanwhile 58.6mm of rain fell at High Range and Moss Vale had recorded about 90mm of rain.

Torrential rain closed Macquarie Pass on the Illawarra Highway in both directions at about 8.30am and the road re-opened after 5pm.

This caused difficulty for commuters, as they were turned around at the top and bottom of the pass throughout the day.

It was a busy day for our emergency services, including State Emergency Service (SES) Wingecarribee Unit volunteers.

SES crews had several jobs come through, including reports of a motorist trapped in flood waters at the corner of Tourist Road and the Illawarra Highway at Robertson.

This incident was resolved quickly, and SES volunteers did not have to attend.

SES Wingecarribee crews also attended a crash at about 12.30pm at Oxley Road in Mittagong. Police, ambulance, fire crews and a tow truck were in attendance.

The driver, who was driving a police vehicle, was uninjured in the incident.

The cause of the crash is unknown and police are investigating.

Meanwhile a fire on a power pole closed Bendooley Street near Bowral Public School.

A small fire started on top of a power pole and was extinguished by the rain.

According to an Endeavour Energy spokesman, the incident was possibly caused by the rain.

This was not the only road closure during the day, with several major roads closed due to flooding and fallen trees. There were road closures across several towns including Robertson, Kangaloon, Bundanoon, Wingello, Exeter and Burrawang.

According to the BoM, Friday’s forecast is mostly sunny with a 20 per cent chance of rain.

On the weekend Highlanders can expect mostly sunny days with light wind and temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s.
