Guest speaker was Maryanne Bawden, a stroke survivor and Stroke Foundation ambassador, together with her husband Peter, who spoke about their stroke experience.
They shared an emotive and personal story that resonated with the 50-strong audience.
Maryanne’s message was that a stroke was a medical emergency where the blood supply to the brain is cut off. She said it was important to recognise the signs and think FAST which means “checking a person’s Face - has the mouth dropped? Can they lift both Arms? Is their Speech slurred? Do they understand you? Time is critical Call 000.”
