Noel Fraser, Jim Neely, Carl Spilker and Dugald Braithwaite defeated Barry Werfel, Peter Watson, Graham Hunt and Peter Morales 18-16.
Team Braithwaite had a 10-6 lead after 11 ends in what was a very tight first half.
The team then extended it’s lead to 13-8 after 14 ends and appeared to have the game under control .
Meanwhile team Morales adjusted their game and when they picked up five shots on the 20th end, it put them in front 16-15.
Team Braithwaite dug deep on the last end to pick up three shots and move through to the next round.
Ashley Lewis, Russell Fahey, Russell Knight and Mick Spong defeated Owen Williams, Nathan Boyers, David Coltman and Greg Taylor 36-5.
Team Spong jumped to a match winning 20-1 lead after eight ends.
And with the scoreline showing 36-5 after 18 ends both sides called the game off and this delayed any more pain for team Taylor.
One round of the mixed pairs was also played.
Pam Wood and Robin Staples defeated Allyson Pryce and Dan Ticehurst 21-16.
This match was expected to be tight and that was exactly how it was.
After the first half Wood and Staples had a 10-7 lead.
Pryce and Ticehurst fought hard to get back into the match and they took the lead on the 16th end 16-12.
This jolted Wood and Staples back into action and they picked four shots on the next end to have the match tied 16-16.

And after this they went ahead to win the last four ends and run out winners by five shots.
In a semi- final of the fours plate, Glen Geise, Gordon Lewis, Bill Meredith and Robin Staples defeated Joel Hunt, Richard Denman, Bob Crowley and Mick Flynn 25-14
This clash was expected to be close but did not turn out that way.
Team Staples had a match winning lead after 11 ends 20-6.
But to team Flynn’s credit in the closing part of the match they produced some good shots to narrow the gap
However it was team Staples that ran out winners by 11 shots to move into the final.
Skipper Robin Staples would have had a good night’s sleep.
He played in a mixed pairs match in the morning, came off the green and went straight into a fours match in the afternoon.
This was seven hours of straight bowling- who said bowls was for the faint hearted?
