That’s the message Garry Ponder wants to get out into the community.
The White Ribbon ambassador and former police force member said eliminating violence against women started with fostering respect.
“We need to educate the kids and educate the parents,” Mr Ponder said.
“It’s about educating parents not to make the wrong comments to their children to make them think there’s a disrespect [towards females].
“There’s a saying among White Ribbon people: ‘not all lack of respect ends in violence, but all violence against women starts with a lack of respect’. We want this community to be completely against violence against women.”
The community is invited to take part in two events in November.
The White Ribbon Walk will be held at Bradman Oval in Bowral from 7.30am to 8.30am on Wednesday, November 21.
