The Southern Highlands Relay For Life is on again on October 20 and 21 at Moss Vale Showground.
Throughout the years there are a few teams that have loyally signed up every relay.
The Funniest People We Know is one such team, having been a part of the last four relays.
Team captain Magill said they were all friends from high school.
“This year will be the first time we are not at school together so relay will be a lovely reunion for most of us,” Magill said.
Many people within the community use relay as a way to catch up with old friends and remember those who have been affected by cancer.
When asked why they relay, Magill said their team loved being able to come together to share memories and “fight back against cancer so others don’t have to go through some of the same struggles”.
It can be hard to pick a favourite part of relay as there is always so much going on. However, The Funniest People We Know said their favourite part of the entire relay was “the late night walks around the track. “There is something about the calmness of pacing around the track in the moonlight and the conversations you can spark up with people from the other teams,” they said.
Cancer Council is thrilled to have teams like the Funniest People We Know continually supporting the event.
Kelly Dinnerville, Relay event organiser Kelly Dinnerville said events like this would not be possible without the support of the community.
“It’s so great to see how widely accepted this event is,” she said.
The Funniest People We Know are hosting a fundraiser at Highlands Tenpin on September 28.
It’s $20 per person to come and have two hours of bowling. There’s a family session at 5:30pm and a party session at 8pm.
