Mr Conroy joined the school on April 30, and has brought a wealth of experience to the position.
Mr Conroy started his teaching career in 1994 and gained experience in schools across south-western Sydney.
This included classroom teacher, head teacher and deputy principal roles.
From 2014 to 2016, Mr Conroy also completed a master of education at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.
“I come with a very rich experience in the area of teaching and learning,” Mr Conroy said.
“[At Bowral High School], our primary focus is on teaching and learning.”
Mr Conroy said over the school term, he has started to instigate some changes at the school.
This includes a partnership with Aurora College.
Aurora College is a NSW virtual selective high school, which provides students in rural and remote areas the chance to study specialist subjects using modern technology.
The program allows students to develop their passion for subjects and courses that link to their career plans as well as broaden their post-school options.
Mr Conroy said the partnership was only one part of the high school’s offerings.
“It’s not trying to rebrand our school as a selective school,” Mr Conroy said.
“We’re a local comprehensive school and this is just one arm to our tree.”
Mr Conroy said the school has welcomed him and has been receptive to his leadership.
“One of the things I’ve found is how receptive the school is. They’ve been so warm and accommodating,” he said.
“I want to be a visible and accessible leader.”
