In any one year, around 1 million adults have depression, and over 2 million have anxiety.
These figures remind us that it is becoming increasingly relevant to learn how to take care of your mental health.
In conjunction with NSW Mental Health Month the Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery program returns to Bowral in October, helping to meet this growing need.
The program, developed by Neil Nedley, MD, teaches evidence-based strategies to reduce anxiety and depression and increase emotional intelligence.
Dr Nedley has developed this program from over 15 years of research and clinical experience helping his patients.
He discovered that causes of depression can be summarised under 10 “hit categories”.
While “every case is as different as each individual, determining your causes can be as simple as taking the depression questionnaire in this program,” Dr Nedley said.
Evidence indicates that just a few changes can help you break free from the trap of depression and anxiety.
Program participants have the opportunity to identify their specific “hits” and learn how they can address them.
Together with the informative presentations by Dr Nedley and group support, participants will enjoy food samples and receive recipes for creating tasty dishes that help improve brain function.
A free information session will be held in the Bowral Seventh-day Adventist Church community hall on Monday 24 September at 7pm.
Places can be reserved by SMS or calling 0481 210 121.
