A fire has closed the Briars Historic Inn until further notice. On Saturday, September 1, a small fire broke out in the kitchen, which caused damage to the kitchen and the restaurant. Staff members evacuated guests from the building immediately. The Bowral and Moss Vale fire departments assisted at the scene and stopped the fire from spreading.

As a result of the fire, the business was not open for Father’s Day on Sunday, September 2. Briars Historic Inn owner Spencer Allen thanked emergency services, staff and the community for its support. “We would like to thank all the local fire departments for doing such a professional job,” Mr Allen said.
“We would also like to acknowledge our staff for reacting quickly to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.” The Briars Country Lodge Motel is unaffected by the fire and is still in business. Breakfast will be cooked in the convention centre.
