Works will include widening of road shoulders, rehabilitation of the bitumen pavement and pruning tree branches to improve the sight-line of motorists.
New road signs and line-marking will also be installed.
The work is stage two of the Exeter Black Spot Safety Improvement Program.
These works will be carried out from the railway overbridge for approximately 170 metres south towards Bundanoon.
Construction will be carried out between 7am and 6pm weekdays.
During construction sections of the road may be temporarily reduced to one-way traffic, however the road will remain open to through traffic.
Road users are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.
Council thanked residents and motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologised for any temporary delays or inconvenience.
Works are expected to be completed by late October 2018, with all timeframes subject to weather conditions.
