Wollondilly Council staff are gearing up for another massive day of lights, colour and action this Saturday, May 5 from 12pm to 9pm.
Six artists were selected to design the artworks which will be projected onto Picton’s iconic buildings – the main event of the festival.
The old Picton Post Office, the old NAB Building, John Digger Furniture Store, Wollondilly Council, St Anthony’s Church and the Picton Town Square Building will be illuminated with the changing colourful designs.
Council’s community projects and events team leader Rob Moran said technical support staff would set up the stage, sound and lighting on Friday ahead of the spectacular on Saturday.
All performers and buskers have been booked in, including The Voice winner Alfie Arcuri and Picton local Missy Lancaster.
There will be 120 market stalls, a chill out zone at St Marks Anglican Church and an artisan market in the Wollondilly Shire Hall to keep adults entertained.
Children will be kept busy at the kid’s carnival and performances.
Street artist Joe Quilter will paint an artwork that represents the shire’s history.
A Wollondilly Arts Group exhibition will also be on for three days. Locals can see the entries from Friday, May 4 from 10am to 4pm, Saturday, May 5 from 12pm to 9pm and Sunday, April 6 from 10am to 3pm.
There will also be free lantern workshops held on the day and locals can walk in the lantern parade at night.
Fireworks will cap off the evening.
