A number of police and administration personnel will be recognised for their service and efforts, with a number of awards and commendations being given out.
These include the NSW Police Medal, the National Medal, the National Police Service Medal, NSW Police Medallions, Commissioner's Long Service Award, Region and Local Commander's Commendations and Certificates.
Police do not do what they do looking for recognition or awards, however I believe it is very important to recognise our people who go above and beyond and serve the community with great pride and professionalism.
There are several police who are receiving awards for confronting violent criminals hellbent on causing harm and damage to others, police who have put their lives in danger to save others’ lives and property.
Their efforts make our community a better place.
There are not only the sworn police who will be receiving awards, but I also like to mention our administrative staff, without whom the wheels of our machinery would come to a grinding halt.
They are the people who do a lot of work in the background who then make it easier for the police to do their job.
I am very lucky here at the Hume to have such a fine group of experienced and knowledgeable people who look after me and make my job easier.
I look forward to formally awarding a number of these people with the recognition so richly deserved.
Until next week...
