The next meeting Southern Highlands Evening Branch, CWA NSW will be held on November 2. The meeting will convene at the Mittagong CWA Rooms, Winifred West Park, Old Hume Highway, Mittagong at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. New members, young and old are very welcome. Garage Sale
The Southern Highlands Evening branch of the CWA will hold a garage sale on Saturday, November 4. There will be toys, tools, books and DVDs among the items for sale. It will be held at the CWA rooms on Main Street, Mittagong from 8am until 12pm. Light refreshments will be available.
Op shop
The monthly op shop of St Andrews Presyterian Church will be held on November 3 and 4. This ill be held at the church on the corner of Bendooley and Wingecarribee Streets, Bowral. It will be open from 10am to 4pm on November 3 and 9am to 3pm on November 4. New stock has arrived including clothing, bric-a-brac, linen, toys and collectables.
Bushwalk
Southern Highlands Bushwalkers Inc will head to Centennial Park in Sydney for their next adventure. The bushwalkers will travel from the Highlands by train to Central Station then take the bus to Moore Park.
They will then embark on a ramble through the Entertainmet Quarter before doing a circuit of Centennial Park including an inspection of the flying fox and park ponds.

Movie night
Can Assist will present a night of mystery for its next fundraising event on November 9. A star-studded cast will feature in the movie adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie novel, Murder on the Orient Express.
This will be screened at the Empire Cinema with all funds raised going to Can Assist for its ongoing work in assisting cancer patients and their families. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30 start and tickets are $25 per person. This includes light refreshments. Tickets are now available at the Empire Cinema box office at 327 Bong Bong Street, Bowral.
Rose society
A Miniature Rose Show (including Floral Design) is planned for November. This is a unique show as it is the first to be held in Australia specific to Miniature and Miniflora Roses. Mini workshops on breeding roses; growing miniature roses in pots and propagating miniature roses from cuttings will be conducted. Cent day
Exeter Red Cross will hold a Cent Day on November 20. This fund raising event will be held at the All Saints Church Hall at Sutton Forest from 2pm.
Bible lessons
Casual, flexible and free seminars on learning to read the Bible effectively are available at the Loseby Park community hall each Sunday from 9.15am to 10.15am. The Highlands Christadelphians currently offer a continuous series of seminars designed to help people learn how to understand the Bible for themselves. No attempt is made to teach doctrines. This is more like a "How To" guide with hints on how to allow the Bible to interpret itself. The small group currently attending includes people from 18 to about 50 years of age. It is informal, and participants are invited to contribute their questions, or simply listen to the others. All are welcome. No bookings are necessary. Come and go as you wish. Melbourne Cup fun
Fashion, food and horse racing will be the order of the day at the next special fundraising event to be held by the Moss Vale branch of Red Cross. The branch will hold a Melbourne Cup luncheon at the Moss Vale Golf Club from midday on November 7. A raffle and sweeps will be run on the day with funds raised going toward ongoing projects supported by the branch. Tickets are $35 per person. Details: Tricia O’Keefe on 0414 672 267.
Anxiety Support
The Moss Vale Anxiety Disorder Support Group meets on the first Saturday of each month from 3pm and the second Wednesday of the month from 10.30am at Moss Vale Services Club.The group is free and open to people with anziety disorders and their friends and family. Pre-Christmas stall
Christmas bits and bobs, handicrafts, home baked treats, plants and more will be on sale in Corbett Plaza on November 11. The Southern Highlands Evening Branch of CWA will hold a pre-Christmas stall in the plaza from 9am to midday. Raffle tickets will also be sold on the day with several great prizes up for grabs.
