Moss Vale CWA
Moss Vale CWA welcomes all to their monthly meeting to be held on September 29 from 12.45pm for 1.00pm start. Due to building renovations the meeting will be held in the Moss Vale Girl Guide Hall at the rear of the CWA rooms, 66 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale. Afternoon tea will be served following the meeting. Street stall
The Mittagong Branch of CWA will hold a Street Stall on September 30 from 9am. The stall will be held at their rooms in Winifred West Park, Mittagong. There will be for sale cakes, jams, craft, books as well as a white elephant stall. Details: Beverley on 4871 1483.
Evening CWA
The next meeting of the Southern Highlands Evening Branch, CWA NSW will be held on October 5. This will be the Annual Meeting and will be overseen by Beth Sharp, Exeter Branch CWA president. All office bearer’s positions will become vacant at this time. The monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday at the Mittagong CWA Rooms, Winifred West Park, Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. Annual meeting
Moss Vale CWA branch will hold its 92nd Annual Meeting on October 6 from 1.00pm for 1.30pm start. The meeting will be held at 66 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale, and will include a guest speaker. Rose society
A Miniature Rose Show (including Floral Design) is planned for November. This is a unique show as it is the first to be held in Australia specific to Miniature and Miniflora Roses. Mini workshops on breeding roses; growing miniature roses in pots and propagating miniature roses from cuttings will be conducted. Activities will be held on November 18 from 12.00pm-5.00pm and November 19 from10.00am – 4.00pm. Further details are available from Ralph Parsons on 4871 0091 or ralphros@bigpond.com.au
Bible lessons
Casual, flexible and free seminars on learning to read the Bible effectively are available at the Loseby Park community hall each Sunday from 9.15am to 10.15am. The Highlands Christadelphians currently offer a continuous series of seminars designed to help people learn how to understand the Bible for themselves. No attempt is made to teach doctrines. This is more like a "How To" guide with hints on how to allow the Bible to interpret itself. The small group currently attending includes people from 18 to about 50 years of age. It is informal, and participants are invited to contribute their questions, or simply listen to the others. All are welcome. No bookings are necessary. Come and go as you wish. Royal Society
Dementia and Alzheimers will be the topic of discussion at the next Royal Society presentation to be help at the Chevalier College Performing Arts Center at 6.30pm on September 28. Enter off Charlotte Street. Professor Peter Schofield, FAHMS PhD DSc, he is the Executive Director and CEO of Neuroscience Research Australia and Professor of Medicine University of NSW will discuss his research into brain function and disorders such as Dementia and Alzheimers. The presentation is fortunate in the timing as Dementia Awareness Month is from September 1 – 30. Doors will open at 6pm. The lecture is $10 for non-members and $5 for Royal Society members. Teachers and students are free. Following the lecture, there will be a dinner with the lecturer, open to members and non-members at The Briars Burradoo. Fashion parade
The Moss Vale Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Millers’ Fashion Parade on October 9 at the Moss Vale Seniors Centre in Queen Street, Moss Vale. The fun will get underway at 1.30pm and all are wecome to take a closer look at the latest outfits available at Milliers’ Store in Bowral. Afternoon tea is available. Entry is $8 and there will be a lucky door prize and a raffle conducted during the afternoon. First prize is a Millers’ voucher. All funds raised will go towards ongoing support of Bowral and District Hospital. One of the latest projects supported by the auxiliary is sponsorship of Pets for Therapy. Details: Jenny on 4868 1424.
