But Highlanders are part of a team that has launched a new superannuation company which hopes to engage younger generations.
GROW Super is an app-based super fund.
The founding GROW Super team includes Joshua Wilson who has take on the role of CEO, Duncan Shrimpton, the team’s creative director, Alex Naylor, Head of Strategic Partnerships, and Ben Trevisiol, Project Manager.
The team created GROW because they wanted a super fund that was simple and easy to use.
“If you can date via an app, check your bank balance via an app, then you should be able to manage your super in an app,” Mr Wilson said.
“The superannuation industry has put in minimal effort to engage young people in their super to the point where they are so disinterested most don’t even know where their money is.
"But what many people don’t realise is that super can be a powerful tool to help you save without having to sacrifice that overseas holiday or big night out.”
GROW Super reduces the complexity of superannuation by using digital tools and interactivity that are second nature to younger consumers.
Tools and features include one-touch consolidation, options for users to invest money in industries they are passionate about, and the ability to automatically save spare change.
People can also use the app to put some of their spare change into the superannuation.
By connecting bank accounts, clients can select to round up everyday purchases to the nearest dollar, with this spare change going to their super account.
“Superannuation is your money so you should be able to invest it in things you are passionate about,” Mr Wilson said.
“GROW lets you have a say in where your money is invested, no matter who you are.”
By using an app, GROW allows its clients to check in real time when their super has been paid by their employer.
GROW has chosen global investment firm Dimensional Fund Advisers to manage their members’ money.
