The Bundanoon Scrabble Tournament was held December 10 at Bundanoon Public School, and teams came from Queensland, Sydney, Shoalhaven, Illawarra, Canberra and the Southern Highlands.
Director John Hamilton said 52 people attended, and ages ranged from seven to 90 years.
“I don’t know what makes the game popular,” he said.
“Some like it for the maths and strategy, others the words, and it is very social as well, so there’s something for everyone.
“Even the people who continuously lose keep coming back.”
Scrabble clubs have been set up in the Highlands over the past year in Moss Vale, Mittagong and Bowral.
