The Shopping Angel initiative involves a hostess on behalf of Highlands Marketplace selecting shoppers at random and paying part of their purchase.
Highlands Marketplace Retail Manager Sandra Shepherd said it was a feel good initiative that allowed them to give back to shoppers.
"The Shopping Angels will be paying up to $30 in specialty shops, such as Flight Centre or Michael Hill Jewellers and up to $10 in food stores, such as Donut King," she said.
"They will approach the counter and say they will pay $30 of your purchase.
"It's something you just wouldn't expect someone to do."
The Shopping Angel will have a letter stating who they are and that the offer is legitimate as Ms Shepherd said she could see how the customer might find the experience surprising.
"It's our way of rewarding our loyal shoppers," she said. The Shopping Angel initiative will be running every Wednesday throughout March.
