In a repeat of last year's grand final, Bowral beat the Wingello Tigers again, this time by 31 runs at Welby Park on Wednesday, March 13.
The win meant Bowral, who only lost once in the past two season, finished the season undefeated and player and Bowral Cricket Club board member Jodi Cooper put the success down to the quality of the players.
"Everyone in the team supports each other and all the players have different skill sets they can offer," Cooper said.
Winning the toss and choosing to bowl in the Tina MacPherson Cup final, Bowral's openers Samantha Badgery and Caitlin Appleyard displayed patience at the crease and both successfully retired not out after a 23 run partnership.
April Wells and Ava Maiden continued the trend of solidity, both with valuable contributions of 15 runs off 20 deliveries through some very classy textbook shots.
Ainslie Corby then led with the bat with 30 runs off 20 in partnership with Vanessa Keeley's 21 off 20, before Cooper and Beth Zupp helped their side to a total of 131 runs.
Heading into the innings break, Cooper said she wanted more runs.
"We would have liked to score over 140 runs," Cooper said.
"We weren't overly happy with our runs, but we knew if we bowled tightly and well, we could restrict them.
"However, we took the wickets, making it better."
Beth Zupp opened the bowling in the second innings and said she was able to keep Wingello's openers quiet and when Vanessa Keeley took the wicket of Rachel Rae-Martin, things started to look promising.
"Opening the bowling, I was able to dot their two big hitters up with the help of the ladies strength in the field," Zupp said.
"After three of their batters retired not out, there were nerves around the field, but giving Ness the ball proved to be a success as she took a huge wicket in the eighth over.
"From then on, spirits were getting higher with the help of all our supporters on the sideline."
Wickets continued to tumble, mainly thanks to a couple of well worked runouts, but when Wingello needed 42 runs to win, their big hitting batters who retired out returned, making things interesting.
"We kept our determination high as anything could happen from that point on," Zupp said.
"Angelina Kumar's great spirit with her consistent motivational sayings assisted in maintaining a positive tone in the field."
The biggest and most important moment of the match came in the 18th over when Zupp dismissed Wingello's big hitter Shania Martin for 37 off 27 deliveries with a slower ball and from that moment, the result was inevitable.
The winning moment came when Maiden ran Matilda Holgate out for nine runs.
Bowral will be looking to make it a three-peat in season 2024/25.
