Get the brollies: the Highlands might cop 100 millimetres of rain this week

It will follow a dry and sunny Easter in the region.

The wet weather will start with up to four millimetres of rain on Tuesday (April 2) and a possible thunderstorm most likely during the afternoon.

This will be accompanied by westerly winds between 25 and 40 kilometres an hour in the early afternoon, which might drop to a maximum of 30 kilometres an hour in the evening.

There is a 60 per cent chance of light showers on April 3, with westerly winds dropping from 20 to 30 kiloemtres per hour, to 15 to 20 kilometres per hour in the afternoon.

Overnight temperatures on Wednesday are expected to be between nine and 15°C.

Up to 10 milliemtres of rain is most likely expected in the afternoon and evening on April 4, with light winds during the afternoon and evening, and a top of 16°C.

It is followed by a maximum of 45 millimetres of rain on Friday (April 5), with 16°C being expected as the top temperature during the day.

A maximum of 40 millimetres of rain is predicted for April 6 and 18°C, followed by a 40 per cent chance of a shower on Sunday (April 7).
