The school is now a member of Round Square, which aims to give students different educational opportunities that provide global understanding, leadership skills and character building.
The networkwas founded by educator and originator of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award program Kurt Hahn.
"At Oxley College, we embrace the education of the whole child, providing our students with opportunities to explore, grow, and discover their full potential," said head of Oxley College Scott Bedingfield.
"Joining Round Square reinforces our commitment to international understanding and collaboration, connecting us with esteemed institutions such as Gordonstoun (UK), Schule Schloss Salem (Germany), and Aiglon (Switzerland)."
Mr Bedingfield took four students to an international conference in Kenya in 2023, with Round Square coordinator Stacey Taylor.
"Students not only met other students from all over the world and took place in global discussions on democracy and globalisation, but they also worked in some Kenyan schools and saw first-hand some of the challenges these students face," he said.
By participating in Round Square conferences, exchanges, and service projects, students broaden their perspectives, deepen their understandings of cultural diversity, and develop skills for leadership and service.
Students explore the 12 discoveries in the Round Square Discovery Framework which include inquisitiveness, tenacity, courage, compassion, inventiveness, problem-solving abilities, self-awareness, sense of responsibility, appreciation for diversity, commitment to sustainability, communication and teamwork skills.
"Through collaborative projects that take place in the classroom including, virtual meet-ups and swapping digital postcards through to exchanges, and immersive experiences, we empower our students to become compassionate, responsible, and globally-minded citizens who will shape a better world," the head of Oxley College said.
Students at the school from Year 8 to 11 will have the chance to be a part of a Round Square regional conference in Rockhampton and an international conference in Bogota, Columbia.
