Highlands women are up for a Small Business Champion Woman Entrepreneur award

Alana Jacquet and Larna Woodward are up for the Small Business Champion Woman Entrepreneur Award, for women above the age of 30.

The principal solicitor and accredited family law specialist from Our Lawyers said being named as a finalist was great recogniton.

"It's confirmed what I am doing is right," she said.

As a business leader and mother, the solicitor said she was "driven by quality", and wanted to make to give female employees a work-life balance, and a welcoming company.

"I've worked really hard to make it a family," she said.

"I just love the camraderie and team I've built here."

She has worked in the legal field in private practice since 2009, and regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court Court of Australia.

Ms Jacquet also assists clients with conveyancing, property law and wills and estates planning.

The Mittagong business is also a finalist for its legal services.

The First Choice Earthworks co-director and office manager has more than 13 years of experience in the construction and civil industry under her belt.

She has worked within varous sections of the industry such as logistics, supply chains, Chain of Responsibility and Work and Health and Safety implementations, sales, compliance and office management roles.

She said the recognition was unexpected especially coming from a small town, but was a positive thing.

The co-director has also gained knowledge in human resources consulting, account management, administration and can read construction drawings.

Mrs Woodward said a priority for the business was assisting clients, but also givng back to the community.

The Robertson business findraises for the Convoy every year, and sponsors different sports teams in the Highlands.
