Former Gold Coast councillor Cameron Caldwell has been sworn in as federal parliament's newest MP.

Mr Caldwell replaced former Liberal minister Stuart Robert, who resigned from federal parliament in May.
The former councillor won the Fadden by-election earlier this month, with the coalition recording a more than two per cent swing, two-party preferred.
Mr Caldwell had previously served on the Gold Coast Council since 2012.
