Saturday's celebrations started with a ribbon cutting followed by a special '200' cheesecake and some 650 free cheesecake cups shared with customers.
There were also balloons, face painting and other fun activities for families and kids.
The landmark opening was a cause for celebration for experienced franchisees Kulwinder Singh Gill and Sukhraj Gill and new members of The Cheesecake Shop family, Parvinder Kaur and Preetinder Singh.
Mr and Mrs Gill have been franchisees with The Cheesecake Shop for over a decade, first purchasing The Cheesecake Shop Richmond in 2010.
Mr Gill told the Southern Highland News he was pleased to open the store in such a beautiful location, and to be able to provide cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, family occasions and other "just because" moments.
"We're happy to be able to celebrate all the exciting milestones in the lives of the Mittagong community with our delicious cakes," he said.
"We are also pleased to be creating some new jobs for locals."
