Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan MP launched a group at the end of June that promotes the protection and preservation of koalas across the state "from all threats".

The Parliamentary Friends of Koala Group received bipartisan support from members of the Labor, Liberal, Greens, Animal Justice Party, as well as other independents.
"Koalas aren't members of a political party, they can't lobby a majority party for support," Ms Hannan said.
"And I've learnt that to get anything through this place, we need to be unified."
The Member for Wollondilly said the group would host events supported by environmental experts, have site visits and connect with experts on rehabilitation and preservation.
She thanked minister for climate change, energy, environment and heritage Penny Sharpe for her support.
Dr Stuart Blanch from the World Wildlife said it was a welcomed decision and "strong unified voices from across the parliament" were needed to stop extinction.
Koala campaigner with the Total Environment Centre and University of NSW PhD candidate Saul Deane said it was important to know about how far koalas habitats went across NSW.
"The koala issue is a spatial/planning issue, Sydney needs to recognize that it has a koala belt - following the Nepean and Georges rivers, along which, koalas are thriving, especially in Judith Hannan's electorate in far south-west Sydney," he said.
"Beyond Sydney's koala belt we enter koala country, and they must be prioritized first otherwise we will lose them, as we already are across NSW and now in Campbelltown.
That means generous koala Habitat corridors over 400 metres wide along our creeks and rivers, the maintenance of impact conservation or rural zoning, and big koala reserves".
"I hope to change the standard of reports and debate from this place with this support," Ms Hannan said.
"We should never have the case as we have in the past where documents are released with translocation or relocation more than preservation."
The group is due to convene its first meeting in the first week of August.
