One way the creative from Mittagong does this is through their cartoons, which represent people they know with different disabilities, and their approaches to things.
"[I want] people [to] understand that people with disabilities can do what other people can do," they said.
Other cartoons Harriett draws up are known as "wisdom characters", which aim to show people that being different, regardless of abilities and backgrounds, should be embraced.
"Standing out is not a bad thing," they said.
It was not just characters the dedicated artist is known for - they craft their own birthday cards which have been sold in Moss Vale, and are popular among their family.
Also an avid painter, Harriett has been showcasing and collaborating on artworks with Creative Space Southern Highlands; a hub that enables adults to access artmaking materials, make friends and learn without barriers.
At the Bowral space, they have collaborated with others with disabilities, taught workshops, and presented artworks in disability-led exhibitions.
For the disability advocate, who has been artmaking their entire life, creating work helped them communicate.
"It helps me express who I am, and for the voiceless, and for people who don't understand disabilities," they said.
The self-expression is not limited to paintings and drawings - Harriett enjoys bringing their personality to their clothes.
It could be a brightly-patterned shirt, denim adorned with drawings, or chains from overalls added to other pieces of clothing - Harriett always likes to leave their mark.
They hope to establish an art business and create a unique colouring book this year.
