Inga Schwaiger was nominated for two awards and won Environmental Citizen of the Year.
She not only does rescues in Wollondilly but is called by WIRES head office when other branches do not pick up referrals for emergency rescues.
Straight after the presentation ceremony yesterday Inga went to rescue an injured cockatoo, and deal with a red bellied black snake.

Kerrie O'Grady was recognised for her work in the aftermath of the Green Wattle Creek fires in 2019/2020 which devastated the Balmoral Village community.
Kerrie set up OSCA when the Bushfire Recovery Centre at Balmoral Village Hall was closed.
She had been joint Co-Ordinator of the centre/ community hub until it closed as the community moved into the next stage of recovery.
However she and several volunteers realised there was a continuing need so they set up their own "not for profit" organisation.
