"It was amazing to see the many old faces of past players and to meet and greet long standing friends to reminisce over the fun times we shared," Springett said.
Also sharing a similar sentiment was club life member Miles Lochhead who couldn't have asked for a better night.
"It was fantastic to catch up with many old and some younger faces at the event," Lochhead said.
"The atmosphere was great with much retelling of old stories from both the pool and the numerous water polo tours over the years."
SHWP president Craig Moore was in awe of how incredible the night was.
"It was a special evening to be amongst people who established and played water polo in the Southern Highlands over 40 years ago," Moore said.
"Who would have thought that a local water polo club located in the cold climate of the Southern Highlands would take root and flourish for 40 years.
"Stories and memories were shared amongst great people to cap off a great evening."
Plenty of donated pieces of memorabilia were bought, with the top price of $750 being paid for a 1956 Olympic Games Poster donated by the wife, Isobel Smee, and daughter, Carolyn, of deceased patron Ray Smee.
A total of $3,340 was raised at the auction.
The celebrations continued until midnight with mostly exaggerated water polo yarns and '70s music filling the air.
There was common agreement that these events should happen more often, as time ran out for the breadth of tall tales on offer.
