Administrator Viv May PSM carried the motion in the Ordinary Meeting of Council on July 20, to support the community's proposal to change the name.
There are currently three localities called Balmoral across NSW with the other two in Lake Macquarie and Sydney's Lower North Shore.
The minutes from the meeting revealed that residents had expressed concerns about the area being confused with others, when it came to utilities and deliveries.

"So this is a sensible decision in my view and is supported by the local community, clearly," Mr May PSM said.
The minutes stated that the aftermath of the Black Summer Bushfires meant locals had heightened worries about the safety impacts this would have.
Council then distributed surveys in 2020 to residents in the northern village and Buxton.
They were given options to have it renamed Balmoral Village, Balmoral Ridge or have it remain the same.
The survey found 56 per cent of residents had issues with service providers and deliveries confusing the localities and a small number of people had issues with emergency responders not finding their properties.
Eighty-seven per cent voted for the name Balmoral Village.
A date for the submission has not been confirmed.
