Our electorate is now in government
I agree very much with your correspondents Brian Measdale and Ching Ang - and would also highlight what a benefit it will be for our region having our local representative Stephen Jones not only in government, but also in cabinet.

The unfortunate citizens just to our south have to suffer the brazen hypocrisy of Angus Taylor lecturing the government on what they should be doing about energy; when he was the Minister overseeing the shambles we are now in!

Call for dedicated donor centre
Like Val Borbone (Dedicated resident donates blood 60 times and wants others to join her) I too have been donating plasma for over 37 years and am up to 580 donations.
The closest and easiest donor centre avaliable to the Southern Highlands is at Goulburn, which I travel to each fortnight.
I have repeatedly asked Lifeblood if and when a dedicated donor centre will be established in our area.
Their response has been that there is a mobile donor centre visiting Bowral (only whole blood can be donated) or if that does not suit then go to Liverpool or Wollongong donor centres (travel to these are more arduous to get to).
With Lifeblood continually appealing for donations and the increasing population of the Southern Highlands and surrounding areas, why can't a dedicated donor centre be established in Mittagong or Bowral.
I am sure it will be well attended.

Prayer should stay
In my opinion the prayer should stay. (Council to cease prayer, page 5) It represents our Christian values and traditions. Prayers remind councillors and staff of their commitment they made to the common good. It is part of the heritage of our country after all.

Department of nonsense
The era of a living wage is upon us.
Take a look at Social Security, spends billions trying to force square pegs into round holes.
The dept has devised an insane circular economy, where thousands are being paid to futilely try to drive people into full time jobs that don't exist.
If both sides of this silly equation were put in the same boat and paid a living wage, they could work part time, in a far more productive capacity.

Producing gas
Cows produce methane gas into the environment, consequently this increases the carbon emissions, so should we start to eliminate beef and milk from our diet? The problem is that we humans also expel gas into the environment and this also impacts on the environment, Australia's carbon emissions are much lower than those in China and the U.S.A, is that because we have a much smaller population than those countries? So, what should we do? Perhaps the climate zealots could suggest a solution?

Palm Oil's cost to nature
The massive increase across the world of clearing of land to make space for oil palm plantations is, without doubt , totally out of control. Animals are being decimated in huge numbers. It seems that this senseless killing will only stop when all the world's forests have been cleared.
Many people would not realise that when visiting supermarket it would be almost certain they would buy a product, or products, containing palm oil. There are a number of brands that use 100% sustainable palm oil. It may be wise, for peace of mind, to have a look at some of these brands
