Southern Highlands residents donate more than $500,000 to the Australian Red Cross
Data from the Australian Red Cross has revealed that postcodes across the Highlands have donated more than $540,000 to the charity over the last three years. A total of $544, 883 non-coporate funds have been donated to the charity between January 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022.
Flurry of vehicles expected on roads this long weekend as snow season begins
Motorists are being urged to plan their journey and drive to conditions this long weekend, with increased traffic expected from June 10, as a bumper snow season officially kicks off. Transport for NSW Executive Director Customer Coordination Roger Weeks said it was exciting to see NSW on track for the best start to a snow season in more than half a century.

Students at St Paul's Catholic Primary School go to say thank you to first responders when a fire truck and police car pulled up the school on June 9. Students and staff were visited by NSW Fire and Rescue Station 385 Moss Vale and the Hume Police District at a special assembly, where students were given the opportunity to say thank you.

Tree's legacy lives on in sculpture depicting care at Bowral District Hospital
A beautiful tree which provided shade and comfort to generations of patients at Bowral and District Hospital has been transformed into a major piece of public art thanks to the vision of retired Doctor Terry Flynn. The tree, which was planted in the 1930s when the hospital's Mona Road (administration) building opened, was removed in 2017 due to its poor condition on the advice of an arborist.

New employment zones proposed across the Shire is set to help local businesses recover. In 2020, the State Government announced it was reforming the planning system to help businesses recover and grow following the pandemic.
Restricted Moss Vale Road access to Kangaroo Valley from the north might be available by the end of July
Transport for NSW hopes to restore restricted access to Moss Vale Road at Barrengarry Mountain by the end of July provided no further issues are discovered during the ongoing repair work. At this stage, work is progressing quicker than planned and some access to Kangaroo Valley from the north west will be in place from the end of July, weather permitting.
