Moss Vale Magic women's coach David Watts says this is the first time the basketball association will enter a women's side into the NSW Women's Waratah League.
"With a great amount of financial assistance provided by two local businesses, 'The Briars' and 'SF Drafting', we have been able to assemble a young but talented team to compete in the competition," Watts said.

Ranging from 17 to 25-years-old, the group of young ladies are keen to take the competition by storm, but with some players struggling with COVID at the moment, the preseason hasn't been the best.
"Most of the squad has had COVID, and when it passes, we will get some better preparation," Watts said.
Team chemistry will be hard to come by early on as a lot of them haven't played together, but there are some good signs.
"A number of the girls are coming off a state title win at the inaugural Basketball NSW u20s tournament held earlier in the year at Sutherland," he said.
"They were not expected to win it but they did.
"Most of the players are our former juniors, but went to other places like Goulburn.
"I just convinced them to come back."
Although the average age of the team is 18 and a half, Watts' goal is to make finals.
"The youth of the team can be good and bad," he said.
"There's obviously less experience, but I think we can hopefully run a bit harder than the other teams."
Fittingly, one of Moss Vale Basketball's founding fathers, Keith Williams, has a granddaughter as the assistant coach and a great granddaughter playing in the side, adding a sentimental touch to the lineup.
The season begins on Saturday, May 21 when the Moss Vale Magic women take on the Goulburn Bears.
