COVID cases on the rise in Highlands, Tablelands
By mid-December, people were starting to realise that Omicron and rising case numbers could be a serious problem. Days away from Christmas, COVID-19 cases across NSW continued to surge. On December 20, according to the NSW Health website, there were 34 active cases in the Wingecarribee Shire local government area. Three days later, there were 58.
Semi-trailer crashes into Burradoo home
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews attended a property on December 14 at Burradoo after a semi-trailer crashed into a home. Crews were called to the address in Foldgarth Way just after midday. When they arrived, they found the semi, carrying two shipping containers, wedged into the garage.
Crowded House to perform in Bowral in April
Australasian rock royalty Crowded House haven't toured in Australia for 12 years, but next year they're back, and - in an announcement that electrified social media on December 2 - they'll be playing in Bowral. The band will incorporate A Day on the Green at Centennial Vineyards on Saturday, April 16 into their 'Dreamers Are Waiting' Australian tour next year. The Australian shows follow their New Zealand tour earlier this year, where they played to full houses, rapturous audiences and universal critical acclaim, and mark Crowded House's first national tour since 2010, and only their third Australian tour during the last 15 years.
New Berrima general store moves to a bigger and better location to serve the community
Readers were interested in the news that Karen's New Berrima General Store and Post Office on Argyle Street in New Berrima was moving across the road, with staff ready start serving customers from December 6. The desire to upgrade to a new premises is something director Geoff Hanratty said has been 17 years in the making.
