The 'Welcome Here' sticker is the latest initiative in a diversity and inclusion project aimed to visibly welcome LGBTQIA+ people and reassure them
NSW Police Force Corporate Sponsor for Sexuality, Gender Diversity and Intersex, Assistant Commissioner Gelina Talbot said everyone in the LGBTIQA+ community was welcome, respected and protected in any of the police stations.
"They should feel safe to report crime and know that our stations are a safe place to seek refuge if they are under the threat of violence," Assistant Commissioner Talbot said.
Inspector Matthew Hinton from The Hume Police District said the Goulburn Police Station was a safe place for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
"Anyone who attends our police stations will be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their gender and how they identify themselves. Everyone is welcome here," Insp Hinton said.
Esther Ramsay from Goulburn Headspace thanked Goulburn Police and Inspector Alison Brennan for supporting the LGBTQIA community.
"It's a partnership we want to continue to support," she said.
There are more than 250 Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers (GLLOs) within the NSW Police Force, so if you need to speak to one, there is always someone willing to help.
