In his first game in whites for NSW, Kerr scored 73 runs without being dismissed and took three wickets across two innings at an average of 24.
The match could hardly have gone better for the 25-year-old, and propels him into contention for the Sixers' opening match of the 2021/22 Big Bash with a strong vein of form behind him.
Despite his incredible hot streak, Kerr's personal goals for the upcoming Big Bash tournament remain modest.
"Hopefully [I'll be] contributing this year," he said.
"We've got such a strong side, hopefully I can fit in wherever I can in the order, from one to eight, and the same with the ball, new ball to old ball.
"I'm just hoping to contribute wherever I can and get the team to a position where we can win the title again this year."
The Sixers have won three BBL tournaments to date, including the most recent edition.
Their 2021/22 squad includes the likes of Moises Henriques, who will captain, Sean Abbott, Dan Christian, Nathan Lyon, Steve O'Keefe, Josh Philippe, and James Vince.
Among the sheer level of star-power in the squad this year, Kerr will enter as a relative newcomer with just five games under his belt. However, due to the strength of his performance in his lone Sheffield Shield game, Kerr is likely to find himself in the Sixers' lineup.
What could potentially help Kerr in his pursuit of a BBL recall is the flexibility of his skills. He said he had "not really" discussed what his role in the side might be with Henriques, and added that he was happy to do whatever was needed of him.
"I'm just preparing for whatever situation I'm going to be thrown into, and that's just the way I am as a cricketer as well," Kerr said.
"I'm quite versatile, and hopefully that can get me selected in some format."
Should Kerr find himself selected in the Sixers' XI this Sunday, he will return to the BBL at his home on the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Due to his upbringing in Bowral, scarcely an hour from Sydney, Kerr has always felt a sense of reverence towards the SCG, and he looks forward to returning to the historic ground.
"It's special, and it's not too far from Bowral as well, so I'm sure a lot of people from home will be up as they were for the Shield game and the one-dayer as well," he said.
"It's a special ground, it's probably one of my favourite in the world and I just can't wait to get out there."
The Sydney Sixers will take on the Melbourne Stars this Sunday, December 5, from 7.15pm at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the opening game of the 2021/22 Big Bash League.
