However, for one business in Bundanoon, things have never been better thanks to the support of the community.
DeliLicious owner Byren Norton-Figtree said the the business had done "really well" despite the recent challenges.
Filled with delicious food, a wide range of products and friendly faces, it's not hard to see why DeliLicious is a hit within the Bundanoon community and the rest of the Highlands.
"We focused on the local community, decent food, good prices and service," he said.
"When the fires started, we got busy. When COVID started, we got even busier.
"The community really came out to support us.
"We focus on putting the locals first."
At the moment, DeliLicous is takeaway only as current COVID-19 restrictions have made it harder to seat customer inside.
"Next for us is to see how we go with seating," Byren said.
"In the meantime we will do what we do best, serve good coffee."
